Market Shopping

We went out to the market again today and found some great new things.

This is one of the first masks I've seen that I REALLY like.

This pic shows the size.

I also found this wall hanging.

And this table runner.

They are both reverse applique. I love them!! I think I will be visiting that shop again regularly.

Had a fun weekend!!

Julia and I decided to celebrate Halloween this weekend. We made smores...

Watched "The Brothers Grimm" and "Sleepy Hollow". Two very good movies for a Halloween weekend. We also used the new grill!! Woo hoo!!

FYI... That cuban pork roast recipe is fantastic for chicken on the grill!! YUM
Then, Ola the table cloth guy visited my neighbor downstairs and we went to look and see what he brought. I bought a few things this time. I think after being married for almost 10 years, I should own at least a couple of nice/fun table cloths!

So... all in all... it was a good weekend.

I had a need... so I did it!!

That's right... I did it. All by myself. I only asked mom 1 question and the rest I did all by myself.

I was officially informed by Roy, my kind sweet loving husband, that a ratty old tank top and faded pair of boxer shorts do not count as an appropriate swim suit coverup on a cruise. Well, then what do I do. It's not like I can just run out to Wal-mart or Old Navy and pick something up!! And I haven't exactly found a sewing store here to buy a good pattern. AND we still haven't gotten our sea shipment yet, so no sewing machine even if I DID have a pattern. But.... I had a need. So, I thought if pioneer women could do it, surely I could. I went to the market on saturday and bought some fabric. Then I took that old ratty tank top and used it to trace a guide/pattern thing. Then I got really brave and CUT! (No going back now.) I spent each day this week sewing, by hand, and ironing and looking and adjusting and looking again and sewing some more. And NOW IT'S DONE!! It's not the best little dress I have ever seen, but I think it will pass for the cruise. And once we are back from the cruise and I have my stuff (aka my sewing machine) I will go back and reinforce every seam!! LOL!

REALLY GREAT FABRIC...

Here is the close ups of the fabric for Roy's fancy pajamas that I promised.

This is the one that was machine embroidered.

And this is the hand embroidered one.
I'm just dying to go to Yaba Market (that's the fabric market) but we can't go there without a security detail. So I will have to wait until we can arrange a group outting to make it worth arranging for security. *sigh*
